Mountoon Learn
- We do not collect personal information from children, or from anyone else. There are no accounts and no sign-in, no ads, no analytics, no tracking, no advertising identifiers and no third-party SDKs of any kind. The app never asks for your child's name, birthday, photo, email address or anything else about them.
- Nothing your child does in the app leaves the device. Which letters they have visited, what they touched, how long they stayed — none of it is sent anywhere. The app has no code that opens a connection of its own, and there is no Mountoon server for it to reach.
- Every visit works offline. All 37 visits, all the artwork and every spoken word are inside the app itself. The one thing that does reach Apple is the App Store, for purchases — see Purchases below — and it is only ever asked from a grown-up's side of the gate.
- The app uses no camera, no microphone, no photos, no contacts, no location and no notifications. It never listens: the voice plays short sound files that ship inside the app, and nothing is ever recorded.
- The purchase screen, the settings and the links out of the app all sit behind a grown-ups gate — a sum spelled out in words. Nothing is ever sold to your child, and no price, padlock or offer is ever shown on a child's screen.
What is kept on your device, and why
Mountoon Learn saves a few small things in its own storage on your device, so that it can carry on where you left off. None of it is sent to us, and none of it identifies anybody.
- Progress — which visits have been finished, which one is offered today, and which host is resting until tomorrow. That is what lets Today offer a new letter in the morning.
- The age band, if you chose one (2, 3, or 4–5). It is optional, and it only leaves out pages that would be too early. It is a band, not a birthday.
- Your switches — “Mountoon says the word” (the voice), “Turn pages for me”, gentle sounds, soft touch feedback, and the fact that the welcome screen has been seen.
- A note of what the App Store has already said you own — whether this Apple Account holds the lifetime unlock, and the date a paid-for week runs out. It is there so that a family who has paid opens every letter instantly, even on a plane with no signal. It holds no payment details, no account name and no purchase history.
All of it stays in this app's own storage, on this device. We never see it, and deleting the app erases every bit of it.
Purchases
Purchases are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your name, your Apple Account, your payment details or your purchase history, and we cannot see, change or refund a purchase for you.
The app asks the App Store two things, and only from behind the grown-ups gate: what the two purchases cost in your own currency, and whether this Apple Account already holds one of them. Apple's answer is what opens the letters. Apple's privacy policy applies to that exchange.
Children's privacy
COPPA (United States): we do not collect personal information from children. UK Children's Code: the app processes no personal data and has no profiling, nudging or third-party sharing. India DPDP Act, 2023: we do not process children's personal data and do not track or target children.
We share nothing and sell nothing
Because nothing is collected, there is nothing to share, sell, rent, trade or hand to an advertiser — and there never will be. Mountoon Learn carries no advertising of any kind.
This website
- No cookies, no analytics, no advertising, no sign-up forms.
- Our hosting provider (Vercel) keeps standard short-lived server logs (such as IP address and requested page) to deliver and protect the site.
When you email us
If you write to hello@mountoon.com we use your email address and message only to reply. We delete the conversation once it is resolved, or sooner if you ask. Please do not send photos or details of your child — we never need them.
Your choices
Because the app keeps nothing about you off your device, there is nothing for us to export or delete. To erase what is on the device, delete the app. To ask about an email you sent us, write to the address above.

Changes
If this policy ever changes we will update this page and the date above before the change takes effect. We will never add advertising or tracking to a children's product.
